Catappa leaves, also known as ‘Indian almond leaves’ are commonly used by betta fish keepers to enhance water conditions. Catappa leaves release acids and tannins into the water that contain natural chemicals that reduce fish stress and have antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.
In addition to soothing betta fish, catappa leaves are mainly used for breeding and creating black-water conditions in aquariums.
